With a Charter school you can choose your own curriculum, books, classes and tutors that you want. Charter school have funds available for you. They assign a teacher to your family that will meet with you. Charter school teachers come to your home every month (or park or library wherever you want). They will ask for samples each month.
2. Online Schools
- K12 CAVA San Mateo (free online school, vendor for charter school): http://cava.k12.com
K12 is online school, you would choose CAVA San Mateo. They give you all the books, art, math, and science supplies, computer, printer, and online portal access. But you have no choice in the curriculum or the books and are not given any funds. K12 teachers will meet with you once a quarter at a library in a central location (could be near, could be far, each time is different). They will ask for samples each month. The child would login and see their schedule for the day and their progress in each subject. The parents also can login and check the progress and test scores of all the children and check the emails from the teacher. A lot of new homeschoolers choose K12, and also for upper grade children when mom feels the need to outsource, because it is all organized for you and you get everything you need. In CA it is free.
